Heathcote is seeking new Associate Members to rent the Farmhouse starting January 1, 2015!

Heathcote Community, a 50-year old intentional community and permaculture demonstration farm, is seeking proposals from families or groups who would like to be Associate Members of Heathcote and rent Heathcote’s farmhouse for a year.   The rent is $1,800 per month plus utilities.  The house is 1400 sq ft, next to a trout stream on seven beautiful acres set in peaceful, wooded valley; served by great schools; with 5 bedrooms, 1 full bathroom, a kitchen, dining room and living room.  The house is owned by Heathcote Community and the land is in the School of Living community land trust.  As Associate Members of Heathcote, the residents will have access to Heathcote’s 44 acres of land and be able to participate in community life, including shared vegetarian meals and social activities. The land features about 1 acre of organic gardens, two high tunnels, a lined catch basin that stores rainwater for irrigation, a small edible forest garden, and more.  We grow organic vegetables on site and there are opportunities to develop honey, egg and mushroom production as well.  Heathcote Community also owns a straw bale house and a historic Mill, which serves as a community center and residence. Heathcote is approximately a 25-minute drive to York, PA and a 45-minute drive from Baltimore.
