Boat Building and Sailing Project

Sailing with Bob

Come to Heathcote and learn to build and sail a beautiful traditional open boat.

We will be building an 18' sailing/rowing boat this summer that will carry 4 people and their gear on day sails and on a cruise of the Chesapeake Bay.

We will be building in the "stitch and glue" technique and will be making all our own spars and oars as well.

Participants will be expected to contribute time and money to the project and will become part owner of the boat, which will be stored at a marina in the Baltimore area, and will be available for use by the participants after the cruise is completed.

Learn boat design, woodworking, boat building, sailing, navigation, seamanship, rowing, knot tying, camping, cooking, etc. etc.

We will also be doing team building exercises, meditation, and self awareness practices.

While working on the project at Heathcote Community, participants may sleep in our bunkroom, eat here, and participate in community life.

This will be a life transforming experience. If this kind of adventure appeals to you please call me.
